Introduction

Ever need a fact or quotation on elisas? Designed for speechwriters, journalists, writers, researchers, students, professors, teachers, historians, academics, scrapbookers, trivia buffs and word lovers, this is the largest book ever created for this single word. It represents a compilation from a variety of sources with a linguistic emphasis on anything relating to the term “elisas,” including non-conventional usage and alternative meanings which capture ambiguities. The entries cover all parts of speech (noun, verb, adverb or adjective usage) as well as use in modern slang, pop culture, social sciences (linguistics, history, geography, economics, sociology, political science), business, computer science, literature, law, medicine, psychology, mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology and other physical sciences. This “data dump” results in many unexpected examples for elisas, since the editorial decision to include or exclude terms is purely a linguistic process. The resulting entries are used under license or with permission, used under “fair use” conditions, used in agreement with the original authors, or are in the public domain. Proceeds from this book are used to expand the content and coverage of Webster’s Online Dictionary (www.websters-online-dictionary.org).

Description

Ever need a fact or quotation on "elisas"? Designed for speechwriters, journalists, writers, researchers, students, professors, teachers, historians, academics, scrapbookers, trivia buffs and word lovers, this is the largest book ever created for this word. It represents a compilation of "single sentences" and/or "short paragraphs" from a variety of sources with a linguistic emphasis on anything relating to the term "elisas," including non-conventional usage and alternative meanings which capture ambiguities. This is not an encyclopedic book, but rather a collage of statements made using the word "elisas," or related words (e.g. inflections, synonyms or antonyms). This title is one of a series of books that considers all major vocabulary words. The entries in each book cover all parts of speech (noun, verb, adverb or adjective usage) as well as use in modern slang, pop culture, social sciences (linguistics, history, geography, economics, sociology, political science), business, computer science, literature, law, medicine, psychology, mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology and other physical sciences. This data dump results in many unexpected examples for "elisas," since the editorial decision to include or exclude terms is purely a computer-generated linguistic process. The resulting entries are used under license or with permission, used under fair use conditions, used in agreement with the original authors, or are in the public domain.

Detection Using Snz and Sno Genes and Proteins: Patented by Margaret C. Werner-Washburne, Pamela Padilla, Edwina Fuge and Edward Braun on October 8, 1999. Abstract: A probe, kit and method of using Snz and Sno genes and proteins for detection of foreign organisms in a sample. The sample can include cell culture, DNA samples, or patient specimens. The probe is utilized in a variety of assays, including Northern blots, Southern blots, Western blots, ELISAs and other detection assays.

Labeled vitamin D compounds and the use thereof: Patented by Michael F. Holick and Rahul Ray on June 1, 1998. Abstract: The present invention disclose to non-radioactive vitamin D compounds of formula (1) and methods to assay for the presence of vitamin D, vitamin D analogs and their metabolites which may be present in milk, blood or other biological fluids. The assay methods employed in this invention may be enzyme linked immununoassays (ELISAs) (with biotin containing compounds) and fluorimetric and chemiluminometric assays (with fluorescein or chemiluminiscence containing compounds).

Nonextractive Method of Assaying Thymopoietin: Patented by Gideon Goldstein, Judy Haning and Cliff Asmus on April 11, 2000. Abstract: A method for measuring thymopoietin (TP) in a sample of mammalian plasma or serum includes the steps of (a) preparing the sample for use in a quantitative assay without exposure to extraction reagents or conditions by introducing into the sample reagents which minimize TP binding to plasma proteins without affecting binding to assay components, and (b) subjecting the sample (a) directly to the assay without further treatment. Preferred assays are binding or displacement ELISAs.

Process for isolating a viral antigen preparation: Patented by Klaus-Dieter Nothacker on December 1, 1996. Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for preparing antigens of viral origin from infected animal cells and to the use thereof in enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs). The process utilizes homogenization, centrifugation and an alkaline glycene buffer.
